Visualising semiotic form
In response to my research into visual language and grammar, I have been developing earlier visual experiments with triangles to reflect my findings.

Gestalt can best be translated as organised structure and describes a whole field of psychological concepts. In graphic design the scope of the term can be narrowed to define ideas of visual perception*.
Attempts have been made to determine the basic elements of visual grammar that could serve as a unit (code) with which to describe all visual language. In reality, this basic unit depends on a network of interrelating factors.
Following on from ideas of visual language based on my visual experiments, I have been researching ideas of visual language and semiotics. Here are some of my findings.
Carrying on from my three-dimensional investigations into triangular form, I wanted to explore some different aspects of the triangle.
Following on from my previous post, I conducted some further studies into three-dimensional triangular form and light.
My first explorations of triangular form looked at the effects of light on three-dimensional structures.
Here is my updated layout for the academic contexts project. I have changed the dimensions from a4 to a slightly more interesting magazine size.
This is my slightly updated type classification book. Hopefully this is now pretty much finished.
Here is my updated academic contexts layouts, still a bit messy but getting there I hope. I have changed the choice of type to Solano Gothic for headings and Scala for body copy.
Today I was fortunate to have Alan Kitching come to my work and talk about his processes and typesetting techniques. Unfortuantely my pictures are pretty bad but I thought I would post them anyway.
These are spreads from my academic contexts project. The book is currently a4 format and is based around the subject of mapping. The typography and layout still needs a lot of work.
